Hiking

If you want to discover the sunny side of the South Tyrolean Alps by foot, then a hiking trip to San Vigilio is an absolute must. The cable car journey alone up to the car-free-zone of Hausberg offers some spectacular views. From the top station at 1486 metres the hiking routes radiate outwards along a gentle ascent through fragrant larch woods. The hiking routes in San Vigilio vary considerably in length – some are suitable for prams and as such are ideal for families with young children, some offer spectacular views and are perfect for leisure hikers, others are more demanding and are for the real summiteers, such as the hike up to Hochwart at 2607 metres. Regardless of which walking trail or hiking route you take, you can be sure that you’ll discover some charming restaurants and inns, where you will be welcomed by friendly faces and thoroughly spoiled with some mouth-watering cooking.
